Pictures: The Second Week

The second week after birth marked the commencement of actual feedings.  Since they couldn't actually swallow, yet, the girls got their mom's milk fed by a tube that went through their mouths directly to their stomachs.  They still needed additional nutrition from their IV's, but they seem to be enjoying getting real food.  We also began to interact with them a bit more by helping the nurses do simple things like taking temperatures and changing diapers.

Tatiana

"I prefer to sleep on my tummy. And it always helps to have my hand somewhere close to my mouth."

Natasha

"I totally agree."

Tiny Feet

The oxygen monitor on Tatiana's foot is the same one used to wrap around a full-term baby's thumb.

Taking a Temperature

Mommy gets to help take the babies' temperatures and change diapers when she visits. Natasha doesn't mind being moved as much when it's her mommy doing it.

Sunning

Tatiana seems to enjoy the warmth from the Billi-lite. She gets to "bask in the spotlight" every few days, but she doesn't need it as much as she did when she was first born.

Daddy's hands

Even Dad gets to help do things every once in awhile.
